Step-by-step instructions :
1 . Before using this tool:
1a : On the layer selection tool , select the layer that you want to erase.
1b (optional) : If the selected layer is hidden, you may want to use Show Layer so that you can tell which graphic objects are deleted.
2 . Invoke Layer Erase using any one (1) of the following methods:
Method 1 : Click the Layer Erase icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Objects -- Layers ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).
Method 2 : If " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Objects > Layers > Erase .
Method 3, 4 or 5 : Layer Erase can also be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the ' Lightning ' layout style, configuration of the interface is done using Customize Interface .
Method 6 : With Layer Mode mouse bindings active, hold down the Shift key and middle-click ( Erase ).
3 . An ok-cancel confirmation dialog opens. On it is the message, " Erasing layer ' ... ' will erase all objects on the layer. Are you sure you want to erase this layer ?" Layer Erase highlights all graphic objects on the selected layer (if the layer is marked " Show ").
Alternative 1 : Press the " OK " button to erase that layer and all objects on it.
Alternative 2 : Press the " Cancel " button to end the Layer Erase operation and keep everything as it was before step 2.
4 . The layer is erased, and all graphic objects on that layer are deleted. The next highest layer becomes the layer that is selected on the layer selection tool .
Note: At this point you can still undo your changes by using Revert or Undo . If you Save to make your changes permanent, you will no longer be able to Revert , but you can still Undo .
